K, honesty time:

Beach vacations have always made me extremely self-conscious.

So self-conscious that I would attempt to count-calories and eat as healthy as possible on vacation. I’m here to tell you – it doesn’t work. Vacations are for letting lose! Letting Go! Relaxing! Your vacation is not a time for you to be worrying about your waist line.

Savour every moment to the fullest and indulge yourself. This way, by the end of the trip, you’re even more inclined to enter a new regime! Now, with that said, I do have some tips that will not only keep your tummy trim but to help keep you at your healthiest. My first, and favourite, tip is always keep…

1. W A T E R   A L W A Y S   I N   A R M S   R E A C H

Salt = Water Retention. Start your day with one litre of water to flush your system. Always have a water break in between cocktails.

2. B E W A R E   T H E   B U F F E T

Portion Size. Stop when you’re comfortable. You can always return!

3. C H E C K   O U T   T H E   G Y M

Some of these resorts have beautiful gyms. So beautiful, you’ll forget you’re working out! Unico 2087’s gym was full floor to ceiling glass. Even 15+ minutes can change your outlook on a day!

4. S I G N   U P   F O R   R E S O R T   A C T I V I T I E S

A lot of resorts offer classes like Yoga, Tennis, Archery, Scuba Diving, and more! Get active while learning a new skill!

5. B E   M I N D F U L   O F   L I Q U I D   C A L O R I E S

Alcohol already has a lot of calories. When you turn rum into a Miami Vice, the calories quadruple and the amount of sugar rises exponentially. Once in a while, enjoy a cocktail with soda water. Bring mindful or excess calories and sugar will help you stay on track.

6. D O N ‘ T   O V E R T H I N K   I T   O R   C O M P A R E    Y O U R S E L F

At the end of the day, you’re on vacation. Don’t waste your precious time being hard on yourself. Live it up! Eat up! Drink up! Chances are, you’ve been waiting to let loose for some time and trying to hold back that temptation will only leave your feeling regretful. My number one tip is to enjoy yourself! Enjoy so much that by the end of the trip, you’ll want to get back into a regime! You’ll be excited to focus on your health, your work, your family, and yourself. Vacations are to help you release any pent up tension. So be kind to yourself. There’s always tomorrow!
